Product Description

David Jeffery grew up in North Jersey, went to wine school, and then to Bordeaux under the tutelage of Dr. Alain Raynaud of Chateau Quinault. David came back to the U.S. with the quest of finding a location to replicate the wines he made with Dr. Raynaud...welcome to Calluna.  The CVC is our signature blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec, all sourced from our hillside vineyards in the Chalk Hill Appellation. The 2009 CVC is a Right Bank style Bordeaux blend from our estate vineyards.

Calluna Vineyards Cuvee 2009 Tasting Notes

"There are black fruit tones on the nose. On the palate, this has strong elements of a Right Bank blend with the Merlot and Franc providing a round mid-palate and the other varietals adding depth and complexity. It is a wine of balance. The wine was aged in French oak barrels, and the use only 40% new barrels has resulted in an ideal blend of fruit and integrated oak, without the excesses so prevalent today." - Winemaker Notes

Blend: 43% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec.
