However, that is not prohibiting them from making their case for outstanding wines in the Napa Valley. In 1995, the dynamic duo began working with winemaker Ray Coursen of Elyse Winery to produce their first vintage of Falcor Chardonnay. Of the 192 cases made, the duo sold five, gave five away and drank the rest. Our goal is to make wines that are in balance, with no one taste element dominating the others. Wines that are in balance are very drinkable on release and, if aged properly, will retain this balance while adding additional taste complexities. Ray's extensive experience, knowledge and long-term relationships with local growers have enabled Falcor to source some of the finest fruit from prime Napa and Sonoma vineyards for our limited-production wines." - Winery Notes
"This is quite a good Syrah that impresses all the way through. The first sniff is of a burst of white pepper, while the first sip assaults the palate, in a good way, with ripe blackberry, plum, mulberry and roasted meat flavors, and a sprinkling of cloves and anise." - Wine Enthusiast
"Our 2005 Syrah comes from the Shifflet Vineyard in Yountville and the Castle Rock Vineyard on Mt. Veeder. It was aged for 15 months in French oak barrels, coopered by Meyrieux Fils in Burgundy. Aromatic notes of fresh berries, black truffle, and smoke marry beautifully with toasty aromas imparted by the Meyrieux barrels. On the palate, juicy, primary fruit flavors give way to preserved berries, black pepper, and smoked meat." - Winery Notes
